CREUA News

New Chair of CREUA Named

Stephen H. O’Connor, Ph.D., professor of practice in real estate at the Bucknell University Kenneth W. Freeman College of Management, will begin as the new chair of CREUA on July 1. He will also serve as a full-time faculty member in GWSB’s Department of Finance. Since 2018, Steve has led the establishment and development of an interdisciplinary undergraduate real estate program at Bucknell. The enthusiasm and demand for his real estate courses paved the way for the creation of a new minor in real estate in 2020, open to students from any major across Bucknell.

He will now bring the same commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning to GWSB. His Ph.D. in planning and public policy has given him a unique lens to study the affordable housing crisis facing many U.S. cities, the focus of his research. He will bring this lens to DC. At CREUA, he will have the ability to engage with housing advocates, developers, and policymakers locally and regionally. His expertise and passion for this area will surely help to strengthen CREUA’s standing as a focal point of ideas and solutions to the challenges that have defined the post-pandemic housing and commercial real estate market in many urban cities.
